Goil Farmhouse in Barmasc: Authentic Val d’Ayas Flavors and Alpine Hospitality

Nestled in Barmasc with stunning views over the valley and Monte Rosa, Agriturismo Goil is more than a restaurant: it is a family story, a living farm, and a place where Val d’Ayas traditions are shared at every meal.

Easily accessible by car in both summer and winter, the farmhouse welcomes guests in a warm and authentic environment. Inside there are about 50 seats, while outside, numerous tables allow visitors to dine surrounded by nature and breathe the crisp mountain air.

The kitchen celebrates genuine Valdostan cuisine: classic dishes like zuppa alla valdostana, polenta concia, and carbonada made from beef raised on the surrounding pastures. Local products such as craft beers, regional wines, apple juice, reblec, and cheeses are also featured.

The farm’s vegetables are grown on-site and transformed into pickled delicacies by the skilled hands of the grandmother, who still oversees everything from cultivation to the table. Here, the rhythm of nature dictates every step.

Founded in 1989 by Giuseppina and Daniele, Goil is now managed by their daughter Barbara with her children Gilles and Anaïs, blending tradition and innovation. Gilles, trained at the Institut Agricole Régional, expanded the farm with a new barn for dairy cows and young calves, alongside horses, a donkey, sheep, poultry, and the loyal farm dogs Miss, Lampo, and Ramon.

With Anaïs’ creativity, Goil also offers homemade sweet and savory treats: apple fritters, freshly made waffles with Antagnod ice cream, Nutella, or berries—a true taste of Alpine indulgence.

The farmhouse is open every day in July and August, and on weekends or holidays in the low season. Guests can also purchase fresh milk and eggs directly from the farm.

At Goil, you don’t just eat—you experience the heart of Val d’Ayas, its flavors, its landscape, and its family traditions.

All was really good

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel L'Aiglon. Firstly the staff were so pleasant and helpful. The room was fine, next time we'd opt for one with a balcony! Comfortable bed, great shower. Plenty of storage and hooks for all our ski gear! Breakfast was in a lovely sunny room and there was plenty of choice for all nationalities. It's a slow 10 minute walk to the gondola, we opted for storing our gear there, although you can use the hotel's. Wellness centre was a perfect end to the days skiing.Definitely recommend and we'll be back!

We received a really warm welcome on arrival and right throughout our stay. Breakfast was included in the price. Food was great - loads of variety and really healthy food to prepare us for the day ahead. Would love to return and stay here again in the future.

Good and friendly service. Good breakfast. Rooms are well kept and neatly cleaned daily. Overall, we find L’Aiglon great value for the reasonable rates.
