Val d’Ayas is the perfect setting for wonderful holidays in the mountains at the foot of Mount Rosa in one of ABC Vacanze hotels: Antagnod, Brusson and Champoluc are the three villages the group is named after and three of the most characteristic villages in Val d’Ayas.
A vacation here means nature, landscapes, traditions, authenticity, hospitality. Above all, a vacation here means discovery.
Let’s then learn about this wonderful Valley…
It starts in Verrès, known for its medieval castle, and ends on the slopes of Mount Rosa, through the municipalities of Challand-Saint-Victor and Challand-Saint-Anselme.
Each inhabited area has always expressed its own personality and preserves its own local traditions.
Even today, the various villages are different from each other and characterized by a complete tourist offer, made up of alpine skiing and mountain biking, Nordic skiing and trekking, snowshoe walking and horse riding.
Champoluc has attracted tourists from all over the world for over ten years. In every season of the year, it offers a wide range of opportunities for fun, from skiing to mountain biking.
Champoluc is the starting point of one of the most suggestive routes of the Monterosa Ski circuit. An intersection of slopes with various and stimulating technical characteristics allows you to always change scenery and slopes, whether you choose the “internal” circuit up to Frachey or you go to the Bettaforca connection and to the district as a whole.
Trekking lovers go wild in the summer thanks to the numerous well-marked paths of varying difficulty available to discover the most suggestive corners of Ayas. The Blue Lake, the Walser villages, the alpine refuges are just some of the destinations for hikers. Noteworthy is the path that runs along the ancient Ru Courtod irrigation canal, a hydraulic engineering work that has allowed the cultivation of the Saint-Vincent hills over time.
Antagnod is today one of the most characteristic resorts in the Monterosa Ski area, so much so that it is counted among the most beautiful villages in Italy. The village is 1,710 meters high, on the west side of Val d’Ayas, with an extraordinary view of Mount Rosa and an enviable exposure to the sun; it is an ideal destination for family vacations. In this small inhabited center, you can admire odd buildings typical of the historic settlements in the area, still perfectly preserved: the famous rascards. One of them houses the IVAT (Institut Valdôtain de l’Artisanat de Tradition) craft shop, where you can discover and buy certified wood, stone and local fabric objects, the most significant of which are sabots, ancient wooden shoes used by the mountain dwellers, still made on site by the Li tzacolé d’Ayas cooperative, and wool socks handmade by local “tricoteuses”. Throughout the year there are relevant cultural events for an increasingly refined and demanding public.
Brusson has always been known as a top-level center for Nordic skiing and, recently, for biathlon as well; the numerous international competitions it has hosted over the years bear witness to this. The cross-country ski trails wind along the course of the Evançon stream from Arcesaz to Extrepieraz, going through the solar plain of Vollon, where a modern foyer de fond is active.
The downhill slopes are located at 1,700 meters above sea level, in the resort of Estoul-Palasinaz, which enjoys wide exposure to the sun and a surprising panorama: many are the attractions for children, including snow parks and dedicated ski courses. 10 km away is the vast Monterosa Ski district (Champoluc - Gressoney - Alagna), as well as numerous mountain refuges and farmhouses that can be reached by enjoying beautiful horse rides in summer! In summer, the centerpiece of many activities in Brusson is the picturesque lake with its green area, particularly suitable for families, sportsmen and ... the lazy ones! Do not miss the traditional Bataille de Reines, the fight between the mountain queens that takes place in the village of Estoul on the first Sunday of September.
Are you keen on alpine history, tradition and architecture? We recommend walking without any hurry through the many hamlets of the village to discover ancient and well-preserved buildings.

We spent a few days before Easter in wonderful Champoluc, we decided to stay at L'Aiglon. The hotel has great location in the village, very friendly staff; most helpful when it comes to answer questions and point us to good deals and opportunities. The breakfast is wonderful, in itself worth the stay.

Spotlessly clean, very comfy, lovely views, great breakfast and next to the ski lift for Antagnod mini ski area so quiet on the slopes perfect. We will return again and again. Very nice hotel, very clean, and very well maintained.
We visited this hotel right before covid, in December 2019. It’s good to see that they have survived 2 years of closures. We just stayed there for one night there and it is as clean and well-maintained as I remember it to be. We booked another one night stay in 3 weeks. Very nice town, the hotel is on the ski-slope which is very popular with families with young children probably because it never gets too busy and has a very good ski school. Highly recommended.

Traditional wooden building
Well-organised and kind staff; clean and comfortable rooms; excellent breakfast with a great choice of handmade cakes, fresh croissants, bread and jams. The hotel is in a traditional wooden building, which is well-maintained. The bedroom that we booked had a private bathroom and gave us access to the back garden. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were very clean.
