Every September, the Aosta Valley becomes a living trail. Ancient paths, high mountain passes and quiet alpine villages are crossed day and night by runners taking part in the Tor des Géants®, one of the world’s most demanding ultra-trail races. 330 km, over 24,000 metres of elevation gain, and a journey that is as mental as it is physical.

The main race follows the Alta Via routes n.1, connecting valleys, refuges and remote landscapes, with Courmayeur as both start and finish.
During the race, the Val d’Ayas is one of the most atmospheric sections of the course.

Runners pass through high-altitude trails and descend into Walser villages such as Cuneaz, Crest, Frantze and Champoluc, before climbing again towards Saint-Jacques and the Grand Tournalin Refuge. Athletes may pass at dawn, late at night or in complete silence, making every encounter unique.

Staying with ABC Vacanze means being close to the race while enjoying a comfortable and quiet base, ideal for runners looking to preview sections of the course, support crews following athletes between checkpoints, friends and family who want to experience the Tor atmosphere without stress.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel L'Aiglon. Firstly the staff were so pleasant and helpful. The room was fine, next time we'd opt for one with a balcony! Comfortable bed, great shower. Plenty of storage and hooks for all our ski gear! Breakfast was in a lovely sunny room and there was plenty of choice for all nationalities. It's a slow 10 minute walk to the gondola, we opted for storing our gear there, although you can use the hotel's. Wellness centre was a perfect end to the days skiing.Definitely recommend and we'll be back!

Stayed in Hotel L'Aiglon for 3 nights earlier this week. Great place to stay. Rooms were really comfortable and plenty of space and really clean. We received a really warm welcome on arrival and right throughout our stay. Breakfast was included in the price. Food was great - loads of variety and really healthy food to prepare us for the day ahead. Would love to return and stay here again in the future.

Good and friendly service. Good breakfast. Rooms are well kept and neatly cleaned daily. Overall, we find L’Aiglon great value for the reasonable rates. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
